No, it wasn’t that bad as getting squished by a bedpan, but yes I just got out hospital after a nasty case of blood poisoning. Five days and nothing but a telly, I came to miss writing, and my good friends online. Hope to be back to writing again for Death Club and Carrendar role plays soon.
Name: Lorelei Rose Carrendar [The Black Widow]
Weight: 129 Lb
Eye Colour: Glossy onyx with a red iris
Hair Colour: Blood Red
Fairly tall woman with smooth bronze flesh body and a slender body. Her gaze is soft yet has the power to send shivers up the spine of those foolish enough to cross her.
Dominant hand: Right
The Black Widow. The small creature devours her mate after sex to give herself the energy to bare the hundreds of small arachnids. After birth the spiders then devour their mother. This Black Widow on the other hand does all of the eating, confident in her aptitude for battle she will lure unsuspecting victims to their ends.
Bebilith (Demon Spider) These vast majority of these creatures have been killed and hunted. Although the few remaining are hundreds of years old and have developed a interesting position among dark creatures. Bebiliths are enormous, predatory, arachnid demons that hunt other demons. While they favor preying upon other demons, they aren¡¯t picky¡ªthey will stalk and attack any type of creature. A bebilith has a body the size of a plow horse, with legs spanning more than 14 feet. It weighs more than two tons. Bebiliths understand but do not speak Abyssal. Their telepathy allows them to communicate silently with one another. The elder Bebilith have the ability to switch between a human-like form and their natural arachnid features.
Weaponry: Generally she uses melee weapons with sharp edges to use in combat at a close ranges. This includes swords, knifes, and claws. But it changes from time to time
Marital Status/Mate: Single
Occupation: Overseer of Chronicles
Quote: “Open the doors to your body and mind. So I may fill it with the liquidous malice that churns in my heart, spin you the web of your inevitable death”
Little is known about her but from various stories passed on from generation to generation from mortal creatures she is called ‘The Black Widow’ for some very interesting reasons. In her younger years she had gone from settlement to settlement consuming the bowls of adult males who had partners. Some tales speak of conversations she had with the wife’s of those human men and the absolute horror she placed in the hearts of children. One thing can be confirmed as fact though, the boogy man has nothing on this shit.
Spell-Like Abilities: At will¡ªdarkness, scare, telekinesis, and teleport without error (self plus 50 pounds of objects only). Once per day – dancing lights, detect chaos, detect evil, detect good, detect law, detect magic, faerie fire, and levitate.
Wall Climb: She can scale surfaces just like a normal spider, even running upside down at 3/4 of her normal speed.
Enhanced Senses: She can track by scent, has 300 foot nightvision as well as 280 degree vision, can sense magic and see invisible opponents.
Mesmerize: The Elder Bebelith has a supernatural ability to mesmerize all that gaze into it’s glowing green eyes. Characters must save versus influence if they stare into the demon’s eyes for more than two melee rounds. The initial effects are cloudiness, causing -2 to initiative, strike, parry and dodge. After 8 rounds, they fall under its trance, totally defenseless, unless someone helps
them out of it.
Webbing: Has 4 spinnerets to expel webbing for a variety of uses. Can create a web up to a 50 foot radius (100feet total) for snaring victims (webbing is extremely translucent and difficult to notice). A web of this size will take about 15 minutes to produce. Webbing can also be used to climb, descend, entangle and ensnare. This is moderately sticky, entangling more as the victim struggles. The tensile strength is can support a bit over 1 ton. When a victim is entangled or otherwise incapacitated, the demon will attempt to encase them in a cocoon. The cocoon is the equivalent of a straight jacket, allowing no movement. This webbing is mystical in nature, resistant to normal weapons (one-half damage). Magical weapons will do full damage. There is a 75% chance that the webbing will not burn if any sort of fire is applied to it. Up to 100 feet of spider silk can be produced per melee and can be consumed for recycling.
Sticky Glob: The demon can perform one of the following special tactics with its webs once per round. A Bebelith can create an adhesive glob of silk about the size of a human fist. The creature will usually perch on a ledge and lower this glob to a range of 50 feet, swinging it as a pendulum. When a creature is hit (or touches the glob) it becomes stuck to the strand and the demon reels in its prey at the rate of 20 feet per round. A strand is strong enough to hold the demon and one creature of the same size.
Web Net: A Bebilith can throw a web up to four times per day. This is similar to an attack with a net but has a maximum range of 30 feet. This attack is effective against targets of up to Gargantuan size. The web anchors the target in place, allowing no movement.
Bio-Regeneration: Bebelith possess remarkable restorative powers, able to regenerate injuries every 4 minutes. They can even regenerate lost limbs with two days time.
Toxic Venom: Bebilith venom is a highly perishable foul-smelling goo, losing its potency and becoming inert almost as soon as it comes into contact with air. The Bebelith has two types of venom. The first type has a neurological effect, causing pain and eventual slowly progressing paralysis throughout the body, and is used during combat/hunting. A successful bite attack will cause physical damage. Characters take additional damage as the venom takes effect (consisting of sharp pains, muscle spasms and cramping partial paralysis. These effects will last for between 2 and 12 minutes minutes per injection or magically negated. Character will still suffer mild symptoms for up to two days and will require medical attention to properly recover. After 3 of such attacks, the character becomes temporarily paralyzed for between 3 and 30 minutes. The true horror in this, is that the character will be in excruciating pain, totally immobile, yet completely conscious. Once a victim is paralyzed, second type of venom then comes into play, a poison with hemolysis-like effects. That is, it breaks down the blood vessels as well as softening (tenderizing!) the muscle tissue. In effect, it turns the victim’s body into a nice squishy meal that can be sucked up. Upon injection, the victim takes damage every 1 minute, until the brain finally hemorrhages and death immediately occurs. A cure must be administered within the first 5 minutes, or permanent damage may occur. The poison sack has enough for 30 type 1 and 5 type 2 injections. Type 1 regenerates 2-4 injections worth a day
and 1-4 type 2 a day.
Vulnerabilities: Fire does double damage.
Summon Demons: Once per day an Elder Bebelith can attempt to summon 1-8 Bebelith with a 35% chance of success.
Demon Qualities: Immune to poison and electricity; cold and acid resistance.
Telepathy: Bebelith can communicate telepathically with creatures within 100 feet that speak Abyssal.
Rend Armor: If a bebilith hits with both claw attacks, it pulls apart any armor worn by its foe. This attack deals damage to the opponent¡¯s armor. Creatures not wearing armor are unaffected by this special attack. Armor has a chance of being destroyed in this way. Damaged armor may be repaired with a successful Craft (armor-smithing) check.
Skills: A bebilith has mottled coloration that gives it a racial bonus on Hide checks
Plane Shift: The demon moves itself or some other creature to another plane of existence or alternate dimension. If several willing persons link hands in a circle, as many as eight can be affected by the plane shift at the same time. Precise accuracy as to a particular arrival location on the intended plane is nigh impossible. From the Material Plane, you can reach any other plane, though you appear 5 to 500 miles from your intended destination. Plane shift transports creatures instantaneously and then ends. The creatures need to find other means if they are to travel back.
Summon kindred: A Bebelith can summon forth a swarm of 10-100 spiders, which serve to confuse and obscure vision. The creatures arrive in 2-12 rounds and are under the Bebelith’s full control.
Grow Limb: The Bebelith may grow lup to 4 long spider-leg apendages from its spine. These are coated in thick carapace and can serve to attack or defend. They are extremly powerful and can be regrown at the same rate as most limbs.
Puppet Mistress: By attaching strands of webbing from her fingertips to the base of the subject’s neck, she can manipulate and control corpses to fight and defend her. These undead dolls follow her commands telepathically and fight until she releases control or are fully destroyed. She usually carries 1 corpse wrapped in webbing on her back when traveling.
Entangling Asp Technique: Drawing six specially prepared shurikens with razor sharp webbing attached to them, she throws them towards the opponent, not aiming directly towards them, but instead throwing them in arcs to circle around and entangle the opponent, at which point she pulls on the webbing and shreds the victim.
Hira-shuriken Hira-shuriken, shaken (or “throwing stars”) – flat, wheel-shaped plates of metal, with sharpened points. Usually 3 mm thick or less, about 11 cm wide, with a variety of tips ranging between 3-20. The hira-shuriken can be thrown either from overhead, or horizontally with a quick wrist-snap, depending on the weapon.
True form : By taking her true form, her lower half transforms into that of a spider’s legs and adomen, both of which are armoured. In this form, her strength and speed increase dramatically as well as her senses. Her blood becomes poisonous and the amount of webbing and poison she can produce to an almost unlimited amount. Her webbing also becomes poisonous on contact and even more durable than before.
Webbed Defense : By spinning rapidly and releasing webbing at the same time, she can form a thick durable cocoon around herself to protect againest most attacks. She can disperse the cocoon at will.
Twin Blades of Despair : These legendary weapons are a matching set of swords recovered from the hellish drow fighting pits of the underdark. Blessed by Lolth herself, dark magic runs throug the wicked serrated blades. Many souls of fallen warriors still linger around the weapons, a fact is aparent when they are used in battle. When the weapons are swung, a horrifying shreiking sound is heard, which not only hurts those with sensitive hearing, it also lowers the opponents morale and causes fears. Furthermore, wounds caused by the blades are effected with a special toxin. The toxin severs the brains signals controlling the neural impulses for movement in the limb’s of the victim, regardless of where they were struck. But unlike regular paralysis, the pain receptors and nerve endings are unaffected, so the victim can still feel pain, even in a paralyzed limb. Healing the wound does not immediately remove the inflicted paralysis.
Since I have something of a love affair with spiders for my writing and role playing, decided to start a blog, dedicated to my favourite arachnids.
Now, the first one I have chosen, truly is one of the most feared in Australia. No other is quite as aggressive, and to be sure, you won’t ever forget, if you are bitten by one.
Today’s Spider : “The Funnel Web”
“A gift…nothing more’
CharlotteCarrendar: -The Spider demoness, tilts her head from side to side, upon seeing that somehow a creature of this realm created a black hole with no appearance of magic (or prep) and shot it like a cannon at the foe that had so brutally and nearly almost nearly, killed the alpha female. It was a truely jaw dropping, eye widening sight, that the body was ripped apart (and was that an auto hit? yes I think it was). Trotting over to the body of the badly beaten alpha with her chest caved in and her head beaten like a watermelon with a mallet….or a bloody big sledge hammer, Charlotte would shake her head and say softly- “Such a pity…..the blood masks your beauty…and yet the hand of death did not dare lay a finger upon you. But I ask..why is it your kin are acting as though nothing has happened. Surely they be rush to save your life…ahh here comes one now…well….I leave you with this parting phrase. “Next time….oh sleeping beauty, you might not be so lucky” -she drops a funnel web spider upon the unconcious Alpha- “A gift…nothing more, but once it lands it bites….the venom sure to make sure you never waken” And with that, she vanishes in a swirl of black spiders returning to her lair-
A parting para…. “Kiss of the Spiderwoman”
The Sydney Funnel-web Spider is a very aggressive species and one of the deadliest spiders in the world. The cephalothorax is almost hairless and appears smooth and glossy black. The abdomen is black, dark brown or purplish in colour. The body and legs are covered with fine hairs. The male has more slender legs and a spur on the third segment of the second leg. This tiny spur is used to hold the female’s fangs during mating. Funnel-webs are extremely aggressive spiders and when threatened they raise their front legs high off the ground and point their fangs forward ready to strike. When they strike they drive the fangs down with force and speed.
Body length: male 20mm, Female 30mm
The Sydney Funnel-web Spider is found in rainforest and wet eucalypt forest, and has moved into shady damp areas of private gardens. They build their silk-lined burrow under a rock or log. The burrow may be up to 60cm long. Most burrows have two entrance. The burrow entrance has thicker lines of silk radiating from the entrance to form trip-lines which alert the spider when prey is near. They are attracted to water and sometimes fall into swimming pools when they are wandering.
Mostly insects, although can catch prey as large as frogs and lizards
Males reach sexual maturity at four years of age and females at five years. The male wanders in search for a mate in humid conditions after heavy rain. The Female spend most of her time in her burrow, and waits there for a mate. The male entices the female out of her burrow for mating. The female produces an egg-sac with about 100 eggs and stores it in the burrow until the spiderlings hatch.
Found mainly around the Sydney area in Australia although the range extends along coastal regions of New South Wales to Queensland.
Male Funnel-web Spiders sometimes wander into buildings when they are searching for a mate, and sometimes find their way into clothing on the floor. The Sydney funnel-web spider bite is one of the most dangerous in the world. Bites can be fatal if not treated. An antivenom is available and no fatalities have been reported since its introduction. Seek medical treatment immediately if bitten.
