“You won’t lose me, love. This I so swear.”
When she pressed her lips to his, he felt though time had stopped, his quiet moan was one of relief, and he held her to him, as though he didn’t want to let her go. Finally breaking the kiss, he rested his forehead to hers and uttered.
“United…we can do anything. But if he tears us apart, we’re finished.” Pulling back he stood there, and kept his promise to be up front with her, he just hated that it worked out this way.
“Uhm…we should go check on our guests.” Trying to bring them back to some sense of normal.
Already, Bianca was dipping her feet in the pool, and Jarvis was helping set up the bbq hotplate. Misty was on the phone again, probably to her boyfriend, and the setting looked…perfectly normal.
“United…we can do anything. But if he tears us apart, we’re finished.”
“Then we simply won’t let him. Whatever he tries to do, know that I am on your side. You’ve given me so much and now I’d like to return the favor.” she smiled, clasping his hands within her own. “I will do what I can to help you, no matter what the result.” She kissed him once more, pouring every ounce of love and respect she had for him into it before she pulled away, breathless.
“Uhm…we should go check on our guests.” he murmured as the doorbell rang once more.
“That’s probably Mary.” she smiled softly, hugging him to let him know that they were ok. She took his hand in hers and lead them both from the room.
Stephan had just arrived in town. HE had arranged for this to appear his day time residence and was trying to look up Caremn in the meantime. In any case he had his coffin on standby and had arranged a local who was quite well paid to guard his coffin while he slept should he be unsuccessful in making other arrangements in the meantime. He had just arrived and new before long he would have to meet the local rulers of the vampire world but for starters he would find Carmen. She had offered him a job and he truly had missed hanging with her. It been years since they had caused trouble together. The last time was the incident with the potato gun and that moron at the club who claimed he had a bigger tongue then Gene Simmons. Now that was a story. He laughed in spite of himself as he thought of how the car had blown up. HA, HA! those were the days. He grabbed his portable computer and began to check on gogle maps for the location and number to reach her. Dialing her by phone he called her and hoped she would answer, when she didnt answer by the third ring he decided he would head over to her residence.
As he made his way to where she was listed he noticed a few things, there was no car in the driveway and the lights were out. He left his card on her mailbox pinned and then headed back to the hotel hoping she might catch up with him later.
With music now playing, streaming through the internal house speakers, it would appear that the guests had already settled themselves in, and were enjoying the trappings of Shane’s house. Taking off his “kiss the cook” apron, he suddenly remembered there was one in the house that hadn’t been invited to the party, and that was of course, Brandi. As Carmen went off to answer the door, Shane whistled and headed on down stairs to the special cell room he had constructed to keep his “prizes” in. The click clack of his heels could be heard along the long corridor, till he came to the sound proofed door, where there was an electronic keypad, and a peep hole. Taking a look himself, it was clear from the blood splattered walls, that Carmen had been enjoying her new doll. Shane’s features suddenly became rather dark, as a sinful smile crept to his lips. He tapped in the code, and you could hear the unlocking of the door, as he pushed it open gently with his hand.
Seeing Brandi tied up, he simply gave away that carefree smile and wandered in, looking about the room, before asking;
“So, how’s life treating you, Brandi? Carmen giving you a good time?” He leaned against one of the only clean walls, and folded his arms, kicking back his right foot. “Having a party upstairs with a few friends, thought I would be….kind and check on you.”
“Shane!” she whispered, throat sore from screaming. “Please…help me. She’s crazy! She’s going to kill you! Get me out of here and I can help you trap her, kill her, before she kills you.” she cajoled.
The girl could barely speak, her throat so dry and her tongue swollen, so her words sounded odd at first. Brandi had to resort to speaking in a whisper, but the words she said were damning of his Carmen. He actually raised an eyebrow suspiciously, and kept his arms folded, as Brandi pulled on the restraints as hard as she could. Trying desperately to break free, and be in his arms again. Perhaps she thought it was safer with him, then the wild Carmen, but truth was, Shane was far darker than she could have possibly imagined.
“Please…help me. She’s crazy! She’s going to kill you! Get me out of here and I can help you trap her, kill her, before she kills you.”
The wild ramblings of a girl that had lost far too much blood. Carmen? Crazy? Hardly seemed plausible. Shane checked his watch, and saw that he had time to play along with this game.
“Kill me? You really think so? Oh hun, you think by me letting you go, that you could help stop her?”
Shane pushed himself off the wall, lowering his arms and started to walk towards her slowly, menacingly.
“And, just how do you plan to trap her? Hmm? Use yourself as bait?” Shane asked, getting close enough for Brandi to smell Carmen on him. He reached out and ran his finger down the left side of her face, almost teasing the girl, but not letting her go.
Carmen had lead Mary into the kitchen to introduce her to Dyna and Tony and slowly began to explain the truth, the entire truth, to the three of them, including how she came to be living with Shane. She felt they deserved the honesty after being her friend for so long. Tony, of course, blew his top and wanted to stake Shane the first chance he got, but the three women managed to calm him down enough for Carmen to explain how they were bonded and that killing Shane would kill her…and she wouldn’t let him do that. “Why?” he demanded. “Because I happen to love the guy, you ass!” Carmen snapped back. That had calmed Tony down considerably. She then told them about the powerplay David was making to wrestle control of the clans from Shane and they all offered to help out. Sensing the crisis over, she sent them out to the pool for food and drinks and to chat with the other vamps, while she went in search of Shane.
She noticed the basement door was open and quietly headed down to see what was going on. She saw that Brandi’s cell door was open and heard her whispered pleas to be set free. She waited, out of view but within hearing range to see what would happen.
Oh the renewed light of hope shone in Brandi’s eyes, as Shane’s finger tip graced her skin, gently going down to the nape of her neck. His face was getting closer, and his lips actually twitched, like you do before you feel the urge to laugh out loud. The rattling of the chains that had her pinned to the wall showing she was desperate, and would do anything to be set free from her incarceration.
“Or we can chain her outdoors, let the sun do the rest. Please…hurry…before she comes back and sees you here.” The ideas this girl had, so devious, that Shane rolled his bottom lip under his teeth, but in doing so, showed off his elongated fangs. He twirled a lock of her hair around one of his fingers, and then uttered his reply in a tone that was like a kindergarten teacher talking to a child;
“But….if we left her in the sun, she’d burn. I don’t think I like that idea.” The winding of her hair around his finger was tightening, and he released his lip, showing droplets of his own blood. His tongue darted out and then slowly licked it back up as he nuzzled his nose to hers, as though he was going to consider her request. His breath cool to her skin, but it would feel so good.
I have a confession.” Shane said in a whisper, as he drew his head back enough so she could watch his lips move, see the look in his eyes. “You see, I only keep blood dolls for so long, till I get bored, or…they do something stupid, like…heh, tell me that the love of my unlife wants to kill me. That…was a big mistake on your part.” Shane’s hand moved to grip around her neck, with his claws digging in deep enough to draw blood. The colour of his eyes changing to a liquid gold, as he showed that Hollywood smile. “You…like every other blood doll I have had….will die.”
“You see, I only keep blood dolls for so long, till I get bored, or…they do something stupid, like…heh, tell me that the love of my unlife wants to kill me. That…was a big mistake on your part…”You…like every other blood doll I have had….will die.”
She smirked and moved closer, peaking around the door jam to watch with undisguised glee.
“No! She’s corrupted you! You don’t want to kill me! This is all her fault! Shane! Please! Let me help you!” Brandi begged, twisting in her restraints as if the mere thought of it would set her free.
Brandi was clearly shocked by what Shane was saying, and though he meant every word, she believed in her mind that Carmen had corrupted him…when really it was the other way around. Her shouting had him pull back slightly, almost having a comical expression to her face of terror. He removed his hand from her neck, again another gesture that showed maybe he might change his mind on killing her.
“No! She’s corrupted you! You don’t want to kill me! This is all her fault! Shane! Please! Let me help you!”
“Brandi…Brandi…Brandi.” Shane repeated her name over and over, in that rich accent of his, loving and feeding off the fear that was now taking hold of the room. He even inhaled deeply and let out a satisfied sigh. Then a dark laugh escaped his lips as he hovered over her, like a menacing ghoul.
“Every time..WE fucked…I was fucking her. Every waking moment, in my head…I am loving one woman. Carmen. She is my Queen…she is my night…she is the very blood in my veins. Yes, I sired her. I can see through her eyes, heh, even now.” Shane started to pant, like he was getting hungry, his face starting to change and contort from the handsome facade that all above had seen and know. His claws extended on his right hand, and her brought it to the thin fabric of her shapeless dress, and started to tear it back, revealing her naked torso beneath.
“All…you are, is a meal. One…I intend to share.”
Suddenly his clawed hand ripped her chest open, right down between her breasts, with her blood spilling out, as he turned his head towards the door. The face of a killer stared out, almost like he was no longer seeing for himself.
No matter how much Brandi struggled, she could not be freed from his vicious onslaught, while Shane whispered in a haunting sound to his mate.
“Come dine with me, my love.”
